Survivor of Suicide Loss Support Group Facilitator Training Program
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
San Diego
San Diego, CA
A comprehensive, hands-on training program to help survivors of suicide loss learn the "how-to's" of creating and facilitating a support group. The 2-day program will be conducted by experts in the field of suicide bereavement and experienced facilitators, and combines lecture, interactive discussion, and role-playing with feedback. It is an opportunity to have your questions answered, hear new ideas, and practice your skills. It is AFSP’s hope that new groups will develop in your area as a result of your participation. The program is appropriate both for survivors who would like to start a new group, as well as those who currently facilitate a group and would like to increase their knowledge and skills. Mental health professionals are also welcome. Note: In order to create an environment in which participants can best develop and practice the skills necessary to facilitate a group effectively, we ask that attendees be at least 2 years after the suicide of their loved one. Visit www.afsp.org for more details and an application.
